Alec Baldwin’s ‘Rust’ Case Dismissed After Surprise Bullets Revealed in Court

News
By Gene Maddaus According To The variety)  SANTA FE, N.M. — The manslaughter case against Alec Baldwin has been dismissed, after the judge blasted prosecutors for failing to turn over a batch of bullets to the defense. Judge Mary Marlowe Sommer threw out the case, ruling that no other sanction was sufficient. “The state is highly culpable for its failure to provide discovery to the defendant,” Marlowe Sommer said. “Dismissal with prejudice is warranted.” Marlowe Sommer ruled that under the principle of double jeopardy, Baldwin cannot be retried. She made clear she was appalled at the prosecution’s failures. “If this conduct does not rise to the level of bad faith, it certainly comes so near to bad faith as to show signs of scorching,” the judge said. Gasps wer...

House of the Dragon’ Actor Eve Best on Rhaenys’ Game-Changing Scene and Filming That Epic Dragon Battle: ‘She Had to Take That Responsibility’

News
By Alison Herman According To The Daily)  SPOILER ALERT: This story contains plot details for HBO’s “A Dance of Dragons,” Season 2, Episode 4 of “House of the Dragon,” now streaming on Max. The war had already started in earnest, but with Sunday’s episode of “House of the Dragon,” the Dance of the Dragons has officially begun. “The Red Dragon and the Gold” culminates with the battle for Rook’s Rest, a small and unremarkable castle on the rocky coast of Westeros. But while the prize may be minor, the combatants are certainly not. Rook’s Rest is the conflict’s first skirmish to pit dragon against dragon — not the impulsive, accidental meeting that took the life of Prince Lucerys (Elliot Grihault) in the Season 1 finale, but a planned face-off with deadly results. ...

Internationally, the film earned $106.9 million from 73 markets, bringing its global earnings to $229.5 million. Even better, “Despicable Me 4” carries a relatively economical $100 million production b...

Longlegs’ Review: Nicolas Cage Worms His Way Into Your Nightmares With Dread-Filled Serial Killer Thriller

News
By Peter Debruge According To The Daily)  Now here’s a first: Apart from the pale-faced freak show of the film’s title, the experience of watching “Longlegs” didn’t strike me as all that frightening. At first. In the moment, it’s considerably less scary than the ecstatic early buzz — ginned up by Neon via whisper campaigns and strategic advance screenings — would have you believe. Less than 12 hours after seeing it, however, the demented Nicolas Cage character resurfaced in my nightmares, popping up out of nowhere to screech, “Hail Satan!” in that unnerving, high-pitched voice of his. How many horror movies can claim to hijack your subconscious? With “Longlegs,” writer-director Osgood Perkins (“The Blackcoat’s Daughter”) delivers the kind of payoff we sought ...
