Tracker’: Jensen Ackles Arrives as Colter’s Brother — What Does He Say About Their Dad’s Death?

News
Meredith Jacobs [Warning: The below contains MAJOR spoilers for Tracker Season 1 Episode 12 “Off the Books.”] “Hey, little brother,” Russell (Jensen Ackles) greets Colter (Justin Hartley) when we first see him in the latest Tracker. (Let’s just say this episode? Full of moments that remind us of Ackles as Dean on Supernatural, including the fact that Russell drives an Impala.) He’s shown up at Colter’s trailer after skipping a planned meeting (so Colter did listen to their sister), and he has something that his brother needs to hear … but is he telling the truth? When the boys were younger, their father died, after falling—or being pushed—off a cliff. Colter thinks Russell did it. But, according to Russell, he didn’t. He doesn’t know if he fell o...

By Joe Otterson The quiz series “The Floor” has been renewed for Seasons 2 and 3 at Fox, with host Rob Lowe entering into an unscripted first-look deal with the network. “Fans loved the first season of ‘The Floor’ so much that we’ve ordered two more seasons of this breakthrough game show with plans already underway to make our epic battle of the brains even bigger and bolder,” said Michael Thorn, president of the Fox Television Network. “It’s also been a massive win to have a huge star like Rob Lowe as our host, and both our viewers and competitors can’t wait to see him back in action.” Under Lowe’s new deal, he will develop new unscripted series for Fox that would be produced by the network’s unscripted studio, Fox Alternative Entertainment. Lowe is also the star o...

SNL S49 E19: Who Got the Most (and Least) Screen Time?

News
By Matthew Stewart Former Saturday Night Live cast member Maya Rudolph became a three-time host on May 11, almost five months after she appeared for five minutes in an episode headlined by Kate McKinnon. Her screen time in this case exceeded 21 minutes, or just over one-third of the episode’s running time. Scroll down to see how Rudolph stacked up against each of the show’s named performers, including all three members of Vampire Weekend. Note that our screen time data is calculated using a method that prioritizes face time, meaning that any contiguous (off-screen but in-scene) moments and practically all partial body appearances do not count. Screen time in the show’s opening credits, bumpers and goodnights are not included, nor do those portions factor into our assessment of the ep...

News
By Lexi Carson Oprah Winfrey apologized for her contribution to diet culture in WeightWatchers‘ “Making The Shift: A New Way to Think About Weight” livestream on Thursday evening. At the beginning of the livestream, Winfrey spoke candidly about her experiences influencing diet culture over the years. “I want to acknowledge that I have been a steadfast participant in this diet culture through my platforms, through the magazine, through the talk show for 25 years,” Winfrey said. “I’ve been a major contributor to it. I cannot tell you how many weight loss shows and makeovers I have done and they have been a staple since I’ve been working in television.” Winfrey recalled a moment from “The Oprah Winfrey Show” in 1988 when she rolled a wagon of fat onto the stage, saying t...

Maya Rudolph Channels Beyoncé and Madonna in ‘SNL’ Opening Number ‘Mother’

News
By Alison Herman Maya Rudolph opened the Mother’s Day episode of “Saturday Night Live” with a tribute to mothers — in every sense of the term. Hosting the sketch show’s penultimate episode of the season, Rudolph began her monologue by noting she’s a four-time mom herself. “But Maya, look — you’re not just a mom,” cast member Bowen Yang reminded her. “You’re mother,” invoking the term’s use in queer slang to describe powerful, aspirational women. “You were the first to slay the house down boots, queen!” “Who me, mother?” Rudolph asked, feigning shock. “You’re right!” The host then launched into a propulsive dance number, strutting through Studio 8H — also known as “House of Rockefeller” — in a reflective bodysuit while delivering lyrics like “Oops, I made you da...
