Here’ Review: Robert Zemeckis Turns Back the Clock on Tom Hanks and Robin Wright, and It Ain’t Pretty

News
By Peter Debruge According To The variety In Hollywood, most movies tell stories. But not “Here.” Adapted from a conceptual graphic novel by Richard McGuire where the perspective is the same on every page — the living room of a century-old American house — while rectangle-shaped panels within each frame reveal actions from different years, if not entirely separate epochs, “Here” is about an idea. Have you ever sat in a place — maybe a hotel room, a park bench or a remote clearing — and wondered what happened there before? How many people have kissed on that exact spot? Or fought, or fallen in love? And what does that say about human experience, that people can be linked by common actions, and places can hold both memories and secrets? There are deep thoughts to be found down su...

He continues to deny the science. He withdrew the United States from the Paris Climate Accords and rolled back critical environmental protections,” DiCaprio said. “Now he’s promised the oil and gas industry that he’ll get rid of any regulation they want in exchange for a billion-dollar donation.” He added, “Climate change is killing the earth and ruining our economy. We need a bold step forward to save our economy, our planet and ourse...

Dancing With the Stars’: Fan Favorite Gets Sent Home as Disney Night Receives Record Number of Audience Votes

News
By Emily Longeretta According To The variety Disney Night never disappoints on “Dancing With the Stars.” During the Oct. 22 episode, the duos pushed for the first 10 of the season — especially after two pairs tied at the top of the leaderboards last week with all 9s. During Dedication Week, Joey Graziadei and Jenna Johnson’s Viennese waltz and Danny Amendola and Witney Carson’s Contemporary routine both earned scores of 27/30. For Disney week, both wanted to fight for the first 10 of the season. Unfortunately, Joey and Jenna’s Samba to “Trashin’ the Camp” from “Tarzan” came up short, earning a 25/30. Danny and Witney, meanwhile, performed a very powerful Jazz routine to “Bye Bye Bye” from “Deadpool & Wolverine,” but still only managed three 9s.      ...

News
By Emily Longeretta According To The variety Bethany Joy Lenz isn’t only opening up about her experience in the Big House Family cult. In her new book, “Dinner for Vampires,” the actor details about her time as Haley James (later Scott) on “One Tree Hill.” Lenz writes that she initially passed on the WB series since she was focused on doing film and didn’t want to be “stuck on a teen soap.” Eventually, after the actor cast as Haley didn’t work out for the pilot, she was called again; the executive knew her since he’d tried to get her to read for “What I Like About You.” “The show was marketed toward tween girls, and I was concerned that the big-sister role I was testing for — which eventually went to the lovely Jennie Garth — was a woman living with her boyfriend,” Lenz ...

The historical drama, which received rave reviews out of Telluride in September, marks the Oscar-nominated documentary filmmaker’s narrative debut. On a muggy, overcast evening in the Upper West Side, Ross and the film’s stars — including Ethan Herisse, Brandon Wilson, Aunjanue Ellis-Taylor and Daveed Diggs — walked the carpet at Lincoln Center’s Alice Tully Hall before introducing the film to the nearly-packed theater. “You can feel the energy, it’s like Michael Jordan is in the arena,” Ross told Variety ahead of the screening. “It feels like something crazy ...
