By Jack Dunn According To The variety Paramount and Miramax’s “Scary Movie 6,” the first in the parody series helmed by the Wayans brothers since 2001’s “Scary Movie 2,” grossed $24.7 million domestic on Friday from 3,490 cinemas. By Sunday, the irreverent horror-comedy is expected to make $56 million, which is more than enough to earn the title of best opening in “Scary Movie” history. That record currently belongs to “Scary Movie 4,” which debuted to $49.7 million in 2006. By Brent Lang According To The variety Independent Film Company and Shudder have acquired Alex Goyette’s debut feature “Breeder.” The film is about an eccentric poodle breeder who lures a broke college student to her remote ranch with a promise of research funding. As he soon learns, there’s a catch. “Breeder” stars Daniel Doheny, Dot Marie Jones, Maddie Phillips, and Tanaya Beatty. Goyette wrote the script in addition to directing the film. The deal is for distribution rights in the U.S., Canada, U.K., Ireland, Australia and New Zealand. Set for a July 10 release date, the psychosexual thriller explores a darker side to caregiving.
